Freight All Kinds (FAK) is a negotiated pricing agreement that groups various commodities under a single, simplified freight class. It allows shippers and carriers to avoid paying a separate class rate for each item, which is often higher and harder to calculate.
The National Motor Freight Traffic Association (NMFTA) assigns a freight class for all commodities based on density, stowability, handling, and liability. Freight class determine transport cost. Beverage brands shipping various products at once can use FAK to lock in one favorable rate for the entire shipment. This reduces logistics costs and streamlines the invoicing process.
